DJ Zinhle has appeared on Real Talk on SABC in an interview with Azania Mosake, in which she discussed her forthcoming book and her relationship with her daughter’s father, rapper AKA.
When asked about what was going on between the two of them, she said she and AKA were in a good space.
“It took a lot of work. We’re still working on it, but we’re in a good space,” she said. “I think parenting was just a tricky thing to figure out. We’re different in a lot of ways – he’s very strict, and I bend very easily.”
Asked if she and AKA would ever get back together, she laughed and said: “If there’s one thing that South Africans are not short of, it’s hope.”
Zinhle’s appearance came just one day after Bonang Matheba appeared on the show in an interview with Azania. Things turned a little awkward when Azania asked Bonang what she thought of Zinhle, and whether she regretted any of the choices she’d made in the past – not mentioning, but clearly referencing, AKA’s revelation a while back that he’d cheated on baby mama Zinhle with Bonang.
In her interview, by contrast, Zinhle took the high road, discussing how blessed she was to have her life and child, and how pain could sometimes blind people to the good fortune they have.
