Cover up or face being fired, Skolopad’s bosses tell her

Skolopad, real name Nonhlanhla Qwabe, was rushed to hospital on Sunday afternoon after suffering from a racing heart and low blood pressure. Doctors told her that she had suffered a nervous breakdown, which could potentially lead to low potassium levels in the blood, a condition known as hypokalemia.

Apart from being an entertainer, Skolopad is also a professional nurse.

She told TshisaLIVE that after the Samas, her bosses wanted to fire her. It appears her condition is caused by the pressure at work, as she fears her career as an entertainer may lead to her being fired as a nurse.

After meeting with the head of department at her workplace, it was decided she could continue her career as an entertainer, just as long as she covered up.

“I appreciate what the media did for me, but I think I have to let go. Nothing will convince [me] to stay because if I stay I’m going to lose everything, especially my child and job. I can’t live without the two,” she said in a letter to a fan.

“I’m dead inside, and tired of acting as if I’m OK. Sometimes I don’t even have that. I did what I had to do to be where I am today [and] I can’t anymore. I need my normal life back,” she wrote.

This follows her announcement that she is retiring from social media.

“I am just trying to better my life because the atmosphere is horrible right now,” she added.
