Connie Ferguson returns to Generations
Generations producer Mfundi Vundla placed himself in a professional pickle when he fired 16 core members of his soap opera's cast, thereby depriving his storylines of some major characters.

With the programme on hiatus until the end of the year, replacing those characters – as much as the actors who play them – was always going to be necessary focus.
His first major step in doing so has been to return to past success stories. Statuesque actress Connie Ferguson has always been one of the most popular of the show’s stars, and even four years after she left her role as Karabo Moroka in 2010, she remains strongly associated with the character. She has now confirmed that she will be returning to the role, following a number of rumours to that effect in the past few weeks.

It is also rumoured that Rapulana Seiphemo, who played Moroka’s partner Tau Mogale in Generations and who left the show at around the same time, may also return to the cast. As the absence of the two characters was originally explained by their going abroad, it should not prove too difficult to write them back into the script.
Ferguson has not been sitting idle since 2010, and will need to find time to shoot Generations in between her work with her film production company Ferguson Films, starring in Rockville (produced by Ferguson Films), which will run onMzanzi Magic, and managing her Connie Body Care company, which makes and markets beauty products.

Ferguson is understood to be concerned about the reaction of the fired actors – many of whom were colleagues years ago – to her decision, but is ultimately concerned about the legacy of Generations, saying that her decision has much to do with wanting to ensure that the show will not be remembered, should it end now, for an ignominious end.
