Cliff Central pulls no punches on debut
Radio personality Gareth Cliff finally unveiled his latest project ‘The Gareth Cliff show' on Wednesday, complete with potato-filled bras and even an appearance by EFF Commander-in-Chief Julius Malema.
Gareth Cliff live on his new show on GliffCentral on May 1, 2014 at their new studios in Rivonia, South Africa. An Internet radio station, listeners can tune in online, via wechat, or by watching on Comedy Central on DSTV. The show, dubbed as “unradio”, features a number of his old team from his 5fm days, including Leigh-Anne Mol, Damon Kalvari and Mabale Moloi and started off on a somewhat discriminatory but hilarious note.
Kalvari modelled one of Mol’s bras’ then proceeded to fill the bra with potatoes in order to try and show actual size of Mol’s breasts.
“It looks lumpy like you have cancer,” Cliff said, adding that it was the stupidest thing that they have done in sometime.
The highlight of the first show was when Cliff interviewed Malema, talking about Hlaudi Motsoeneng, Malema’s voicemail, tax issues, his political views and more.
Malema told Cliff that JZ set him up on the fraud charges because Malema was a thorn in his side.
Parts of the interview was very tongue in cheek, at one point Cliff ask Malema if he would put the whites in the gardens and kitchens.
In a statement released at the launch of the show, Cliff said, “You’re my dysfunctional family and you provide me with surrogate relationships that preclude me from ever having a normal relationship with just one person. I love that. I love that you listen. Thank you. I know there are times where you wanted to kill me (or yourself). I think it’s fair to say that the ride has been worthwhile.”
The new show is as Cliff said it would be, uncensored, unhinged and unradio. The entire show was unrestricted, entertaining, informative, real and laced with humour. Listeners and fans concurred as they took to social media to share their views on the new show.
