Author and activist Zoleka Mandela was admitted to hospital last week Saturday. She was diagnosed with stage three liver and lung cancer last year.
The mother of six usually shares regular health updates on her Instagram page, and in a recent post, she shared that she is currently receiving radiation to her spine and pelvis while awaiting chemotherapy.
She added: “For the progression of the cancer in my body, it’s going to be a long haul, but so appreciative of the efforts made toward the betterment of my health by the medical team and medical staff. I can’t wait to get back home to the kids! Peace. Passion. Positivity.”

During her interview on eNCA earlier this month, Zoleka revealed that she is already planning her funeral. Zoleka said she feels like she is running out of time and wants to live her best life and capture stories in her own way.
“I have got plans for my kids, I have got plans for my funeral. I have got plans about what’s going to happen to me leading to my passing and what happens after. And what kind of legacy I would want for my children.
“It will probably sound strange but I think I am blessed or fortunate enough to be in a position where I am in – my planning stages. I am having conversations with my loved ones, lawyer, therapist, and siblings to discuss what happens on the day and after I pass away,” Zoleka said.
The author was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time in 2012, and again in 2016 after surviving the first time.
Last year, she took to Instagram and shared that CT scans had revealed that she has cancer in both her liver and lungs.
“I am yet to receive feedback regarding my bone scan, to establish whether I have cancer beyond my ribs. I am hanging on by a thread. Thanking you all for your outpouring of love, prayer, and support. Peace. Passion. Positivity,” she added.
