The character was already popular in Yizo Yizo and had been portrayed by Ronnie Nyakale, who now plays Cosmo in Generations: The Legacy. Zola replaced Nyakale, and his performance only proved how good an actor he is.

Zola also played a role in the Academy Award-winning film, Tsotsi and the movie Drum.

The Zingu 7 rapper also inspired youngsters across the country when he proved that he’s not only talented in acting, but also in music; Rap and Kwaito to be specific.

Zola, who was more lyrical about struggles of people in the townships, has enjoyed success as a Kwaito superstar.

He released some best songs which include, Don’t Cry, Zingu7, Ghetto Scandalous, and many more.

Zola’s popularity on our TV screens didn’t end there. He also had a show called Zola 7 in which he helped people from different backgrounds on many challenges they faced.

Beside his own TV show, Mzolisto was also United Nations Children’s Fund Goodwill ambassador; he had his own shoe and clothing label, and a self-branded cell-phone starter pack.

Then all of a sudden, Zola started to frequent police stations, this time not for his goodwill, but for issues ranging from allegedly assaulting a Sunday World journalist Ggwako Malatji and setting dogs on him to baby mama issues.

This negative publicity had a negative impact on his career, and for some time, he has been dormant on our TV screens.

Now back on our TV screens, the actor for sure aims to make a strong comeback.
