While The Citizen thought it would be the first of many publications to get to wish popular musician Zakes Bantwini a happy birthday today, it was left sadly disappointed to find his phone on voicemail.
Hopefully this might mean that the Clap your hands hit-maker is having the time of his life and enjoying his 35th birthday in style.
Zakes Bantwini was born Zakhele Madida in the F-Section of KwaMashu township in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. “Zakes” is a nickname derived from his first name, “Zakhele”; while “Bantwini” was given to him by a friend because he is said to be a people’s person.
Happy 35th birthday Zakes!
