Kabelo Mabalane
Mabalane has seen the best and worst of the music industry, having been around since his TKZee days in the early 90s. He’d bring experience, as well as a no nonsense attitude to the judge’s table. He’d probably be able to tell the contestants off when it’s needed – he managed to make it before the age of reality shows, after all, so no divas would be tolerated.
Rob Forbes
The 5FM DJ has come a long way since his first shows – his opinions are now respected in the industry and he’s also popular with the younger crowd. When he predicts something is going to be hot, he’s usually right, so he’s clearly got an eye for talent. He’s also not shy about making his voice heard and could act as a voice of reason, a quality which is needed to balance out the panel.
PJ Powers
This doyenne of the music industry is loved by all, and she’s also been around long enough to take no bull from her fellow judges, as well as from contestants. She knows what talent is and isn’t shy about taking people on. Seeing her and Randall Abrahams or Somizi go head-to-head would make for some very entertaining viewing.
Rebecca Malope
If only MNet could steal her from Clash of the Choirs. She has 27 years of experience in the music industry under her belt. She’s also got a great personality – no one wants to watch someone dull every Sunday evening.
Fikile Mbalula
Yes, we know, this one is silly. But our deputy minister of sport and recreation seems to be keen on getting his name known in the entertainment industry – he was even the MC at #FillUpTheDome. He also tweeted yesterday that MNet should tell Gareth to “go jump over his surname.” He’s clearly got no love for Mr Cliff!
