Were Royal AM ballers humiliated after MaMkhize’s cash stunt?

Royal AM owner Shawn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has made a splash in more ways than one in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) this weekend, with the businesswoman and media personality’s latest moves leaving social media divided.

During a KwaZulu-Natal derby on Sunday, Royal AM went up against rivals Maritzburg United and won 2-1 in stoppage time.

For their reward, the players received wads of cash, all captured on camera as club chairman, MaMkhize’s son Andile Mpisane, handed R200 notes to the team after calling the players’ names out loud.

“Please tell them [MaMkhize and Andile) not to bring the money on to the pitch,” one player said.

Twitter users were divided over the “incentive” players received and how it was conducted.

One user, using the handle @N_many_mo, wrote: “MaMkhize no Andile are bringing entertainment but the money stunt really was out of line ….don’t create content nga Bantu… these are professional players… masimba mani lawa.”

However, MaMkhize doesn’t seem bothered by the criticism, posting a victory dance on Instagram after the incident.

“Win dance. Jabulile as you grow older you learn to celebrate at home! To my boys @royalam_fc you have made me proud I love you. [God] is good all the time, it started with [four] goals and it’s moving to [four] wins,” she wrote.
