WATCH: Twitter was never ready for what Serena Williams ‘wastes’ her money on

Not even the interviewer was ready the answer, so he just laughed along, but Twitter thinks his laugh masked his shock.

Tennis great Serena Williams recently sat down for an interview with Maverick Carter on Uninterrupted and shared her experience with money, among other things. Williams said she tried to drop her first million-dollar check into the drive-through at the bank, a mistake she said she would never repeat.

“Luckily, I’ve learned a thing or two about the right way to handle my money since then,” she said.

Carter went on to ask the tennis great what she spent her money on, expecting her to say shoes or whatever it is that women are expected to spend their money on.

“Is there like a guilty pleasure purchase that you just can’t stop buying, whether it’s purses, it could be some kind of food, it could be travel. Is there a thing or thing that you’re like ‘damn, I want to stop buying that?” asked Carter.

None of us was ready for her answer.

“I have the weirdest one,” Williams said before laughing in ’embarrassment’. “It’s property,” she added. Carter laughed, it might be because he expected her to say something silly.

Williams said she did not know how much property she owned. “It’s a lot,” she added.

Though most people buy property only to sell it later, Williams said she was not about that life.
