Belinda’s performance of Whitney Houston’s One Moment in Time got a standing ovation from the audience and drew smiles from even the most sceptical of judges. Simon Cowell, notorious for his cutting comments, gave Belinda a ‘thumbs up’ at the end of the song which aired on British television on Saturday night.
Belinda told the judges that she’d chosen that particular song as it reminded her of her two children.
The 43-year-old singer who hails from Port Elizabeth has two boys who are her world.
“I have two boys and the most important thing for me to do is to make my kids proud,” she said.
A seasoned performer, Belinda has toured the world doing a Whitney Houston tribute show with Showtime Australia, but she is hoping to expand her repertoire and her singing career by entering the talent competition.
Production of Britain’s Got Talent has been delayed due to Covid-19. But looking at the audience’s reaction, and the judges’ standing ovation, we are sure she’s going to go FAR in the competition!
“You created such a MASSIVE moment tonight for all of us, so thank you,” said David Walliams.
“What a way to close an amazing round of auditions with a class act. I want to see the name ‘Belinda Davids’ in lights, you are amazing!” said Alesha Dixon.
“You have that ability to move us with your voice, it was great!” said Amanda Holden.
“I absolutely adore you,” said Simon Cowell.
After the audition was aired, she took to Facebook with the following message: “I want to say thank you for the mass support I have received from Britain’s Got Talent. This experience was exhilarating and I hope that my audition made you feel the same way. Thank you again to all of my phenomenal supporters who have been with me since I started my singing journey many years ago & a big hello to all of my new found friends from #BGT!”
