Seasoned musician Ringo Madlingozi walked off stage in frustration at the DStv Delicious Festival this past weekend.
“Next year March I’m releasing something for you and I’m not coming here,” said Ringo in his rant before walking off stage and seemingly pulling the zap sign.
It’s unclear what infuriated the award-winning muso, but a number of social media users speculated he was upset because of the treatment he may have received from organisers. His rant didn’t seem to be aimed at fans, as he repeatedly told the onlookers that he loved them.

The incident has split social media, with some supporting Ringo while others thought he was being dramatic.
“Only to see him at the Amapiano stage much later in the evening enjoying DJ Maphorisa’s set. Drama queen,” said @vho_mli.
“Black people though. I’m sure if it was an American saying all these things you wouldn’t be making jokes but it’s because it’s a South African artist you show no respect. That’s the same thing he is against, we tend to love overseas artists more than ours,” wrote @Official_Paledi on X, formerly Twitter.
“That’s the problem with radical politics, always want to play to the gallery instead of raising issues with the relevant stakeholders who are the organisers. To charge or seek sympathy from people who expect a good performance from you is nothing but misguided radicalism,” commented @Chale31203968 on Twitter.
The rant comes just a few days after reports Ringo was divorcing his wife of more than two decades. Ringo and Nomfundo Nyathi had been living separately for a decade now.
The Sunday World reported Ringo’s lawyers informed Nyathi a few weeks ago that he would file for divorce after the two failed to rekindle their love.
The Sondela singer recently signed a new deal with Sony Music Entertainment where his music will now be available on streaming platforms. The deal will see 13 albums from his old and new music available on streaming platforms for the first time.
