After the high of the Springboks winning the Rugby world cup and the tour bus that followed days later, comedian Donavan Goliath has reflected on the 50 artworks he created on Instagram around the Boks, since their match against hosts France.

“So I just realised that I’ve made 50 pieces of content for this world cup, and that’s only since the France game basically,” said Goliath in a video.

“That’s like getting 50 rugby caps as a rugby player,” averred his wife, Davina Gordon Goliath in the background.

Goliath is a South African comedian who does not only tickle the bone when on stage, but has built a reputation as a great content creator on his social media pages. Such is his commitment to creating content that he has been awarded for at the DStv Content Creator Awards.

In 2022 he won the How I Shot It Award, which is presented to the most informative and entertaining clip on how a piece of content was shot. While this year, he hosted the awards and also walked away with the Thumb-Stopping Award.

Donavan’s best

When South Africa played against host nation, France, in the quarterfinal, Goliath created a meme which pit the French’s Croissants against Mzansi’s favourite, a vetkoek or Gwinya.

A number of South Africans couldn’t deal with the 9 pm kick-off at the world cup, some unsure of when they should start their braai. Goliath captured this feeling through his hilarious content.

When the Springboks took on England – in a tight game in the semifinal and prior to the kick-off – Goliath jokingly said the Buckingham Palace would be changed to Bokingham Palace should the Boks win.

The win over the English seems to have brought out the best in the comedian as it was after this game that he created a video doing his impression of English actor Jason Statham.

Springbok loosehead prop Retshegofaditswe ‘Ox’ Nché’s love for cake was also played on by Goliath, ahead of the final against New Zealand.
