WATCH: Dan Tshanda promises music changes in 2019

The music legend was on holiday in Durban when he decided to take a video for his fans.

Music legend Dan Tshanda had plans to make more music with Splash and Dalom Music, he said before his death. In a video that has been circulating on social media, Tshanda seemed to have been on holiday in Durban when he decided to take a video for his fans.

He wished them a “blessed” Christmas and New Year, before promising to make the best music in 2019.

He says: “Hi everyone, my name is Dan Tshanda. I’m in Durban now, you know, thinking of next year, what’s going to happen next year. First of all, I want to wish you a very blessed Christmas and a very blessed New Year. I want you to know that I love you very much. Next year you’re going to see some changes from Splash and Dalom Music because it’s a new year and we want to give you the best one.”

His memorial service will be held at Bassline, Newtown in Johannesburg and the funeral on Friday next week at the Wespark cemetery.

Tshanda passed away on Saturday in Johannesburg after suffering heart failure at age 54. He was reportedly certified dead on arrival at Sandton Mediclinic after suffering a heart attack.

News sites from African countries, particularly Zimbabwe and Botswana, where he was very popular, have also been reporting the news, with fans from across the continent tweeting messages of their loss. Family spokesperson Moudy Modzielwana told The Voice Online in Botswana that the musical icon suffered the heart attack at around 1pm in the afternoon.

“He was rushed to hospital where he was certified dead upon arrival. The doctors confirmed that he passed on after a heart failure,” he was quoted as saying.
