Media personality and Idols judge, Unathi Msengana, has opened up on her new song Hlala Nami (stay with me) and has revealed its meaning, especially in light of recent media reports that she has separated from her husband of eight years, Thomas ‘Bad Boy T’ Msengana.
Unathi says the duet with singer Mondli Ngcobo — which is available on her new album Brave, True and Strong — touches on the conversations couples should be having before they spilt, she told Drum magazine.
“The song chronicles the journey of couples who are at the brink of breaking up. It also chronicles the ego that sometimes we go through when we don’t want to admit that we are wrong or that we are stubborn and you don’t want to take responsibility of what caused problems for you as a couple,” she said.
Unathi said she hoped that couples would humble themselves and be open with their partners, before deciding to call it quits.
