Twitter remembers Reeva Steenkamp’s birthday

Her parents, Barry and June, told Huisgenoot earlier this year they would honour their daughter by going to the beach where her ashes were strewn and throwing red roses in the water.

June told the magazine they hoped to see the dolphins Reeva loved so much and would rather in this time think about her than about Pistorius.

June Steenkamp has written a book about her daughter as her way to ensure that she was not forgotten and also formed an organisation to help abused women and children. She said in a television interview earlier this year she still had many unanswered questions and wanted to meet Pistorius to hear the truth.

She described Reeva in a radio interview as a beautiful and intelligent woman who was always so much more than simply someone’s girlfriend. Reeva, who had a law degree, had worked as a model but also had plans to pursue a career in law and dreamed of opening a shelter for abused women and children.
