Tumisho Masha a victim of hijacking

Renowned actor and television personality Tumisho Masha survived a five-hour hijacking ordeal last night in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

The actor, who hails from Soshanguve, was on his way to Johannesburg from visiting friends and family in the area when at about 10pm he was accosted by the hijackers and thrown into the boot of the car.

He was driven around for hours while the hijackers were locating the tracking device in car while he lay in the boot and was finally released in the early hours of Monday morning unhurt but emotionally traumatised.

“I am still in shock as we speak and traumatised by what happened. It all happened so fast, and it only dawned on me while I had a gun held to my face that it was a hijack and I had to fully cooperate in order to live,” says Masha.

A case of hijacking and attempted murder has been opened with the police for investigation and possible arrest.

“I realise that I am not the first to be hijacked nor will I be the last but we cannot allow to be held ransom by thugs in our communities. I urge members of our communities to please report any suspicious activities to the police so that we can rid our communities of crime and that we able to walk or drive freely without fear. A big problem with the crime situation is the lack of employment and business opportunities for the youth in the townships that exacerbates the situation.”

Like Masha, Mcdonald Ndou, known for his character KK on Muvhango, was the victim of an armed robbery in Johannesburg about two weeks ago.

According to a report in Sunday World, the robbers hijacked Ndou in Jeppestown on the night of August 7 and drove off with him.

Ndou had just parked his Audi when he was approached by three men as he was about to close the gate. Two of them were armed with firearms. They put him in the passenger seat, took his cellphone and bank card and then drove off, police told the Sunday paper.

Fortunately, his car was recovered on the same day.
