Athlete Tristan Thompson took to social media on Monday to apologise to his ex and the mother of one of his children Khloe Kardashian, after paternity tests revealed that he is indeed the father of fitness trainer Maralee Nichols’ son.
The 30-year-old basketball player and the Keeping up with the Kardashians star share a daughter True, 3.
According to reports, Tristan said in court papers that the only time he had intercourse with Nichols was in March 2021. “I am certain that if the child is deemed to be my child that the only date of conception was March 13, 2021, because it was my birthday,” he stated at the time.
Tristan and Khloe were still dating at the time of conception. Tristan and Khloe have known each other since August 2016, and had an ‘on and off’ relationship before breaking up for good in July 2021.
On Monday, after paternity tests confirmed that he did in fact father Nichols’ baby boy, Thompson took to his Instagram stories to accept responsibility for his actions and to publicly apologise to Khloe for “the heartache and humiliation” he caused.
“Today, paternity tests results reveal that I have fathered a child with Maralee Nichols. I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established I look forward to amicably raise our son.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone I’ve hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately.
“Khloe, you don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry,” he wrote.
Khloe is yet to respond to Tristan’s public apology and the news about his newborn son. Her ex husband Lamar Odom reportedly took to Facebook to make his thoughts known on a post that discussed the paternity results.
“I truly wish nothing but the best for her and I’m hoping we can reconnect and talk one day as friends,” Odom said, adding, “she is a good person and deserves the world.”
