Trevor Noah’s life story to be turned into feature film

Actress Lupita Nyong'o is set to play Trevor Noah's mother in a new film adaption of his autobiography.

Trevor Noah’s bestselling autobiography, ‘Born a Crime’, is being turned into a movie.

The South African comedian shared the exciting news on Instagram. He revealed that Lupita will play his mother in the film.

“My mom is a powerful woman who could easily be one of the beautiful soldiers in Wakanda. So it’s beyond a perfect fit that she would be portrayed on the big screen by the radiant and regal Lupita Nyong’o. I’m beyond excited,” he captioned a picture with the Academy Award-winning actress.

Lupita has more than just a starring role in the movie.

“When I read Trevor Noah’s Born A Crime, I could not put the book down. Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation!” she said on Instagram.

Born a Crime continues to do amazing things for Trevor. The Daily Show host won two NAACP awards for the bestseller, with several celebrities giving the book a thumb’s up.

One of those famous faces was billionaire Bill Gates. He reviewed the book for Time.com, and only had good things to say about the comedian’s debut as an author.

The Microsoft founder praised Trevor’s mother as the real hero of the book.

“She’s an extraordinary person who is fiercely independent and raised her son to be the same way. Her greatest gift was to give her son the ability to think for himself and see the world from his own perspective. ‘If my mother had one goal, it was to free my mind’, he writes. Like many fans of Noah, I am thankful she did,” he wrote.

We can’t wait to see ‘Born a Crime’ on the big screen!
