Trevor Noah to replace Jon Stewart (video)

Jon Stewart announced on the 10th of February 2015 that after 16 years at the helm, he would be leaving the show. No exact date of Mr Stewart’s departure has been announced. Trevor Noah has appeared three times as a correspondent on the show, he made his debut in December 2014. Noah is currently on his comedy tour in Dubai, and in a telephonic interview with The New York Times, he expressed his disbelief at the promotion and said it was a great opportunity and challenge. He also tweeted that he and the rest of the Daily News Show team would do their best to make the show “the best damn news show” they can.

Known as Africa’s most successful comedian, Noah has hosted numerous television shows, including two seasons of his own late night talk show “Tonight with Trevor Noah”. He has also hosted the South African Music,Television and Film Awards, The South African Comedy Festival and sold out many shows. Noah was also the subject in the award-winning documentary You Laugh But It’s True, about his career in post apartheid South Africa.

Noah made his U.S television debut in 2012 on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has also appeared on Late Show with David Letterman. He was the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on both shows.
