According to Amber Daneen, the club’s marketing manager, Cruise was brought to the country club via helicopter and left soon after with his security team.

He returned three hours later and met with some of the club’s staff members before leaving again.

Filming ‘Mission Impossible’

Cruise, 60, was also in South Africa back in February 2022 to film scenes for the upcoming Mission Impossible films.

The seventh film in the series – titled Dead Reckoning Part 1 – is slated for release on 14 July 2023.

Meanwhile, the eighth instalment (we’re assuming Dead Reckoning Part 2) had an initial release date in 2023. It has since been moved to 28 June 2024.

Cruise will once again reprise the role of agent Ethan Hunt, but plot details still remain a closely guarded secret.

However, an insider told Variety the seventh film will end with a cliffhanger, and that the latest movies are a wrap of the entire series.

At the time, Cruise joked about either getting a local driver’s license or visiting Home Affairs and said he was very excited to be in South Africa.

Frequent visits to SA

“I’ve been wanting to film here for a very long time; I can’t wait for you to see the new movie”, he told fans in Hoedspruit, Limpopo when he returned in April.

He was later spotted in KwaZulu-Natal, flying his own helicopter over Oribi Gorge while scouting for locations for the film.

Fans who met with the start described Cruise as charming and humble. He reportedly also thanked those present for their hospitality and support.
