Funny man, Tol A$$ Mo (real name Mongezi Mahlangu), has answered his ancestral calling.
His wife Mome Mahlangu posted on Tuesday explaining her husband’s journey toward becoming a sangoma and how as a family they had “ran away” from the ancestral signs for years.
“A few months back we welcomed home Mahambahlega. Drums rolled all night in the middle of our estate in Sandton. After six months of [a] spiritual journey and healing family generations, [a] welcome home. We tried to run from it for years until they came…” she wrote.
After rising through the stand-up comedy ranks and having reality shows on Vuzu, now-retired comedian Tol A$$ Mo was shrouded in controversy after sexual misconduct allegations were made against him.
Model Lerato Moloi publically accused him of sexual assault and rape, which led to BET Africa being slammed for promoting a sit-down interview with Mo at the height of the allegations.
Mome stood by her husband, at the time saying she would only leave Tol A$$ Mo if he is found guilty in court.
“I’m not sure why I’m being bullied cause [sic] yes I will support my husband until he is proven guilty, not by Twitter,” she wrote.
However, the Mahlangus seem to have put the claims behind them. They have a reality show on Mzansi Magic called Mo & Mome, which follows their daily lives. It aired earlier this year.

Mome recently revealed in an article on Drum that her mental health was key for wellness, as well as how she dealt with her in-laws not liking her.
“It’s okay not to have a perfect in-law relationship than to accept the abusive one, you only live one life that is determined by our daily choices. [You] become what [you] eat, hear, read daily … choose your wellness daily… you can’t be well living under depressing circumstance[s].”
Mome added she was asked to talk about her relationship with Tol A$$ Mo’s family on their reality show.
The fitness fanatic said the conversation caused fear among women, which could lead to depression and that some women fear it could end the marriage.
“I am grateful that Mo and I have a very open relationship and we share our opinions, and he has encouraged me to speak about it. If I can use my voice to help women, why not?”, she said.
