This year, for the first time in his career, Tlale will join the likes of Donna Karan (DKNY) and Zac Posen on a list of designers who have their own runway shows at the event, which begins on Thursday, February 6.
For the past three seasons that Tlale has been going to NYFW, he presented a few garments within a group called “Designers from Africa”.
“People would always ask : who is this boy from Africa?” he says with a laugh.
As a designer who has always been able to make an impression with his designs, there’s no doubt that David Tlale is well on his way
to becoming an international brand.
“Having my own runway show on such a big platform is a milestone for me, and for our country” says Tlale.
