They all touched our lives
MISSED: Stars passed away, but left marks in our hearts.

Millions of South Africans may not have had a personal encounter with some of the legendary actors, musicians and politicians who passed on this year, but nevertheless they left a footprint in their hearts.
Some of the actors, especially the likes of Emzini Wezinsizwa’s Baba Mkhize (real name Roland Mqwebu), Sibeko born Bafana Mlangeni, Going Up’s Reginald Cluver (real name Rex Garner) and Sammy Moeti who played the role of Vho-Mushasha on Muvhango, certainly put a smile on their fans faces while watching them on TV.
Zone 14 and Yizo-Yizo’s actor Tshepo Ngwane may not be classed in the league of these humorous actors, but he made a mark in the acting industry through the excellent roles he played on different programmes. Legendary musician Senyaka Kekana did not only make his fans dance, but his comical character kept them amused. Back in the 1980s Ricardo Groenewald’s popular song I love you Daddy kept every child from the township and the suburbs dancing, thus his departure took many down memory lane.
Banza Kgasoane, an acclaimed trumpeter of Mango Groove, and founder of Alexandra Brass Band and Soul Brothers’ lead singer David Masondo’s sterling role in the music industry cannot go unnoticed. Top Billing’s humble presenter Simba Mhere was not only a role model to many South Africans, but to his fellow television personalities. He made a mark in the television industry but still remained humble.
The same can also be said about Public Service and Administration Minister Collins Chabane whose humbleness also touched many people’s lives in a different way. Former national police commissioner who was a convicted fraudster, Jackie Selebe, might not have been regarded a true role model to many, due to the fraud scandal he was embroiled in before he passed on, but his unique smile and kindness will also be remembered.
Former Bafana Bafana midfielder John “Shoes” Moshoeu, Jacky “Bojo Mujo” Lehlake, Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi and music promoter Prosper Mkwaiwa are counted in the list of those who unfortunately could not cross over to 2016. May their souls rest in peace and their families find comfort during this festive season and in years to come.
