Steve Hofmeyr posted on Facebook that he had written a tribute song for Jordaan.
“And then deleted it. And then recorded. And deleted again. Then reconsidered. Wondered if it was fitting. But music was the language him and I spoke,” he wrote.
By the looks of things, Hofmeyr’s tribute song will be available on YouTube just after Jordaan’s tribute ceremony, which will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube on Friday, 26 November, at 11am.
In his post, Hofmeyr thanked Coleske Artists for handling the matter with such dignity.
Afrikaans celebrities from all over the country have been sharing their versions of Jordaan’s songs on social media too.
Charlize Berg wrote on Instagram that she had been thinking about what a legend Jordaan was and then phoned up Scheppel, one of her good friends and a brilliant violin player, to do a tribute to Jordaan.
“So here it is,” she wrote. “Our ‘spur of the moment’ Theuns’ Soos Bloed.”
