Nobody takes better selfies than celebrities. Their social media pages are littered with dozens of images that show them looking near perfect.

If you want to up your selfie game, then keep reading. Here are some selfie taking tips from the stars.

Subtle pout – Bonang Matheba

Queen B’s personal assistant is usually responsible for taking her Instagram-worthy pictures, but South Africa’s media darling knows how to take amazing selfies. It’s all in the pout.

The duckface pout is a major no-no, but slightly pursing your lips into a subtle pout will make your selfies look cool. Just asks Bonang Matheba, who is queen of the subtle pout.

Smize Ayanda Thabthe

Once you have mastered the subtle pout, it is time to work on your “smize”.

Supermodel Tyra Banks coined the term, which is all about smiling with your eyes.

The who-took-this-selfie selfie Pearl Thusi

Taking 101 selfies with yourself looking directly at the camera can come across as vain. You need to throw in a selfie every now and again that shows you looking off into the distance.

You technically took the picture yourself, but to the untrained (selfie) eye it looks like someone else took the image for you.

Know your angles – Kuli Roberts

Kuli Roberts has taken selfies in some of the most awkward positions.

While most people only manage to get the top half of their body in their selfies, Kuli can get her entire outfit in one shot. Now that’s what we call selfie skills.

Lighting is everthing – Azania Mosaka

Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of good lighting. It can make or break even the best of selfies. Some celebrities even use good lighting as an excuse to take more selfies.

“When the lighting and make-up is on point you take a selfie,” TV and radio personality Azania captioned this selfie.
