Actress Thando Thabthe has been receiving vitriol all morning after echoing Lerato Kganyago’s sentiments about opening up the industry.
Kganyago initially suffered the same fate after she compared the South African entertainment industry to Hollywood and insinuated that South Africans needed to allow local entertainers to participate in as many projects as they can book.
Kganyago’s mentions were immediately flooded with disagreement and the occasional reminder that her uncle was the former spokesperson for the SABC.
Just as the conversation began to die down, 5FM DJ and actress Thando Thabethe revived it.
She was accused of keeping young talent out with her anti-open-up-the-industry mentality.
Pearl Thusi, who is also often vocal about such issues also got dragged into the conversation.
While some of her peers came to her defence, the overall sentiment seems to be in opposition of Kganyago and Thabethe’s assertions.
