Tamara Dey wants R4.5m in child support from Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s son

Her baby daddy accuses her of wanting the money for her 'personal benefit' rather than for their 20-month-old girl.

Pop and dance music singer Tamara Dey is demanding R4.5 million in maintenance from the father of her baby, who has now been identified as Mninginisi Nkhavi Mhinga, who is musical icon Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s son, Sunday World reports.

Dey is reportedly dragging Mhinga to court to try and have the R10,000 monthly payments she is receiving for their 20-month-old child doubled to R20,000.

This amounts to R240,000 a year, or R4.5 million by the time the child reaches maturity.

Dey argues in court papers that the amount she currently receives is not enough to cover the child’s monthly expenses.

Mhinga reportedly works in a sports shop in France, and is opposing the request for more money, saying he suspected that Dey’s requests for more money were for her “personal benefit” rather than for the child.

The pair will square off in court on January 28.

Dey and Mhinga both declined to comment. The full story can be read today’s edition of the Sunday World.

Dey announced that she would be having the child in 2017.

“I’m super excited to share some very special news today and announce that I’m pregnant with my first child and in my 2nd trimester,” she said at the time.

“With a baby on the way and a new album dropping soon, I continue to have a very active pregnancy. I’m promoting my new music, doing gigs and I’ve been staying fit and healthy with the help of local studio, My Pilates in Dunkeld, Johannesburg as their newly appointed brand ambassador,” she added.

“I’m embracing this next chapter in my life with much joy and excitement and can’t wait to share both my new music and babybliss with all of you very soon.

“Thank you to my team and to those closest to me. Your unwavering love, support and encouragement has been invaluable. I love you,” she concluded.
