Springbok centre Jan Serfontein, who currently plays for Montpellier Hérault Rugby in France, and his wife Lani Scholtz Serfontein welcomed their baby girl on 4 April.
The couple, who have known each other since their high school days, said their ‘I do’s’ on 20 February 2016 at the picturesque La Paris Estate in Franschhoek.
They have been living abroad in Montpellier, France since 2017. The centre signed a contract extension with Top 14 outfit Montpellier until 2024.

The new parents celebrated their 7-year anniversary in February. Lani took to her Instagram account at the time to share a beautiful wedding photo of her and Jan with a heartfelt message dedicated to her husband.
“After 7 years of marriage I can honestly say I have never loved you more! You are kind, honest, loving, strong, pure in heart and my absolute rock. In only 6 weeks we will be parents and I can’t wait to see you fulfil the role of being a dad. I know you are going to be the absolute best. Forever grateful to have you by my side @janserfontein,” she wrote.
The blonde beauty, who celebrated her 30th birthday in March shared her pregnancy journey with her Instagram followers always looking radiant and happy in her photographs.

Lani was in South Africa in December 2022, to celebrate her baby shower, which her mom and sister organised for her at the Kleine Eike Estate in Greyton.
“Got to celebrate our baby with all my closest friends and family this past weekend. My mom and sister put together such a beautiful day. Thank you to everyone that blessed us with their presence and for showering us with love and gifts. Grateful to have you all in our lives. Baby girl, we can’t wait to meet you. You are so loved already,” Lani wrote in the caption.
Jan and Lani took to Instagram on Tuesday to introduce their baby girl to their fans and followers.
“Lena Lizahn Serfontein. 04/04 • 10:37 am • 3,82 kg. Our perfect baby girl sent to us straight from heaven. Thank you Jesus for new life and the privilege of being this little girl’s parents. Lena baba, you are loved beyond measure,” both the new mom and dad captioned their respective posts sharing black and white photos of the new addition to their family.
