Just after clearing her name with the taxman and scooping an award at the National Film & TV Awards, Sonia Mbele rounded-up her month of October with a getaway in Paris to witness the Rugby World Cup final.
“I’m filled with so much gratitude… to be part of this pivotal life changing moment is highly indescribable… I may not have been invited by my own country but for my own country I will show up,” the actress wrote on her Instagram, captioning a post of the Boks hoisting the Webb Ellis Trophy at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
On Saturday the Springboks edged New Zealand’s All Blacks 12-11 in an incredible and tense Rugby World Cup final.

Some joy after horrible times
In September, Mbele missed court twice after she was expected to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court together with Yolisa Gqunta and Rebone Sesing for contravening the Tax Administration Act. The three are directors of a company named Real Housewives of South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) gave the former Generations actress a final chance and she took it up as she reportedly appeared in court last Thursday.
Prosecutor Kamohelo Selepe said all charges against the three were withdrawn after Mbele reportedly signed an admission of guilt and paid the applicable fee of R41 000.
While in a recent interview with ZiMoja, the 46 year-old opened up about living with autoimmune disease. “At the time I thought I was just fatigued until my doctors performed additional tests which confirmed that I have anaemia that has gone chronic,” she said.
According to Mbele she was diagnosed with the disease just a few months before launching season three of RHOJ (Real Housewives of Johannesburg) and that the condition had forced her to make some lifestyle adjustments.
“I had to change my diet and eating habits, quit alcohol and I now have to go for drips to make sure I have enough iron,” averred Mbele.
Two weeks ago the mother of three ironically won an award for the show which nearly tarnished her name through tax evasion. The RHOJ was named the Best Non Scripted Series for 2023 at the National Film & TV Awards.
