Sol Phenduka fears dying alone

DJ and radio personality Sol Phenduka says the thing he fears the most in life is dying alone and in poverty.

Sol currently co-hosts the YFM ‘Flava in the Morning’ breakfast show with Mo Flava, after he flourished during his six-month Y Academy internship at the station and was hired permanently.

Speaking to Zalebs, Sol explained that it was a high school friend who initially suggested he’d be good on radio when he, during a debate, “told me that I should do radio when I get to varsity”.

Sol initially started out his music journey as a rapper, but he eventually moved away from hip hop when he started making beats and moved into the house scene.

When quizzed by the website as to whether he’d choose a life as a rapper if he could go back in time, Sol answered with a resounding: “No I wouldn’t.”

“I still love the rap music but I don’t like the art of rapping as much as I did before. My heart is no longer in rap music,” he added.

Sol during the interview also divulged that he, while in school, received the best marks for maths and the worst for Afrikaans. And when asked about his biggest fear, answered: “Dying poor without a family, that’s my biggest fear.”
