While Somizi Mhlongo talks openly about his flamboyant lifestyle, being a family man, a father to a 21-year-old daughter and a proudly gay man, Silkour felt that this was a bit confusing, resulting in the popular rapper asking Mhlongo, in an impromptu interview, if he was once confused about his sexuality and if he is indeed gay.
“Slikour, that is the most stupid question; it is like asking are you really, really black?” Mhlongo responded; with Slikour continuing to mention that perhaps Mhlongo wasn’t too sure back in the day about his sexual identity.
“Clearly you had some kind of identity crisis; because you have a daughter…you were in a relationship. At that point in time, were you aware of it or you weren’t sure?”
“Mhlongo cut the long story short and explained that he has never being confused about his sexuality, even when he had a child. “No, I was sure. The thing is, people tend to box you. I have never been straight [but] at the time I thought I was bisexual,” Mhlongo said bluntly.
