Skolopad received major backlash this week for voicing her opinion on the latest rumours surrounding the death of soccer star Senzo Meyiwa.
The dancer was dragged on Twitter for sharing her opinion on claims that Chicco Twala’s son Longwe killed the former Bafana Bafana player.
She questioned what would have happened if Longwe was the one who was shot during the alleged robbery.
“[Longwe] came and ask for his money, right? Then Senzo stood up and put Kelly behind him, right? What if Senzo killed Longwe? I wonder honotlo thweng [what people would say]? self-defense?”
Social media users told Skolopad to stick to dancing, adding that she should be quiet about the serious matter.
Speaking to Tshisa Live, Skolopad says she did not mean any harm with her tweet.
“To be honest, I was just asking an innocent question and I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I didn’t think that people would attack me personally for a simple question, but I guess I don’t blame them. I understand why they’re angry. SA is sensitive about Senzo Meyiwa,” she said.
Skolopad added that she has followed Senzo’s case since the beginning, and was just curious about the latest rumours.
“When I saw the tweleb bring up names and information we didn’t know, I had questions. But I also felt like some of the accusations were dodgy. All I was asking was what if? But in addition to being dragged and insulted till late hours last night, people just took out their anger on me. Maybe the way I asked the question seemed insensitive, but I was just asking.”
