Simphiwe Dana thanks social media after her stolen car found

Singer Simphiwe Dana shared her ordeal on social media of her car being stolen at a panel beaters shop on Friday.

The artist posted on Twitter that her black Chevrolet SUV was stolen by one of the employees at the panel beaters shop and shared her car’s registration number.

Dana even shared pictures of the alleged two suspects on her Twitter page which opened canned worms as people suspected they were illegal immigrants.

Dana has been open with her support of allowing illegal immigrants into the country and some on Twitter had not forgotten. Some Twitter users said the singer needed “luck” to find the suspects and her car because Home Affairs wouldn’t be able to track them.

Thankfully for the singer, some social media users did help Dana but she tagged CarTracker SA who she says were doing a ‘dismissal’ job in responding to her.

The car tracking device responded: “Good evening, please be advised that a consultant will contact you to assist with your query. ^KM.”

Three hours later Dana tweeted: “Good news! My car has been found. The tracker miraculously started working after it seemed it was disabled. Now to figure out what really happened. Intriguing.”

However, Dana was dragged as some people didn’t feel sorry for her.

Dana also slammed any suggestions the posts her car was stolen was an attempt to promote her new concert. The Nzima hitmaker shared screenshots showing her conversation with the owner of the panel beater shop and the car being recovered.

“I believe it was the power of social media that scared the thieves into abandoning my car. When their names and faces were everywhere, maybe they freaked out. So thank you for spreading the word. Nangamso.”

She also wondered why thieves were interested in a car model such as a Chevrolet.
