Sigourney Weaver to join Ridley Scott’s Exodus

Sigourney Weaver will reunite with her 'Alien' director Ridley Scott for his new biblical epic, 'Exodus', starring alongside Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Sigourney Weaver is to reunite with Ridley Scott for biblical epic ‘Exodus’.

The Oscar-nominated actress will once again team up with the iconic filmmaker who launched her career with a lead role in 1979 sci-fi classic ‘Alien’, starring alongside Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton in 20th Century Fox’s new blockbuster, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Weaver will play Tuya, the mother of Edgerton’s Egyptian pharaoh Ramses II, in the movie, while ‘Transformers’ actor John Turturro is set to play Ramses’ father, Seti.

‘Iron Man 3’ star Sir Ben Kingsley and Emmy Award-winning ‘Breaking Bad’ actor Aaron Paul are also set to join the cast. Kingsley will play a Hebrew scholar in the epic adventure and Paul is in talks for the role of Joshua, a Hebrew slave who follows Bale’s protagonist, Moses, into the Promised Land.

The latest draft of the ambitious movie was scripted by Steve Zaillian, whose previous credits include David Fincher’s ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and ‘Moneyball’.

‘Exodus’ is expected to begin shooting in September in locations including Morocco, England and Spain.

Scott recently helmed 2012 sci-fi thriller ‘Prometheus’ and reunited with one of the film’s stars, Michael Fassbender, for ‘The Counsellor’, which also features Brad Pitt and is due for release later this year.
