SA celebrities who should be president in 2019

Which one of these famous faces would get your vote as South Africa's first female president?

Oprah Winfrey’s moving speech at this year’s Golden Globe Awards has people speculating as to whether or not she could run for presidency during the next American elections.

This got us thinking: “With South Africa’s own presidential elections coming up next year, do we have any female celebrities who would make strong candidates like Oprah?”

As a matter of fact, we do!

These are the local stars who we would bank on to run for presidency in 2019.

Anele Mdoda

Anele has already joked about the possibility of her running in 2019, even throwing a light-hearted jab in Cyril Ramaphosa’s direction.

Minnie Dlamini

Bantu Holomisa wasn’t entirely crazy when he suggested that Minnie Dlamini should run for presidency in 2019. His reasoning was that we’re finally ready for a female president and she should be the one.

Brenda Ngxoli

Brenda Ngxoli is one of the most celebrated actresses and comedians in South Africa. Nobody would stand in her way as she embarked on this presidential journey.

However, if rumours are to be believed, she might be busy playing Brenda Fassie by the time elections come around.

Rolene Strauss

Rolene already has experience when it comes to representing South Africa internationally.

Her reign as Miss World 2015 saw her mingling with the biggest movers and shakers on the planet.

Ntsiki Mazwai

Ntsiki Mazwai might be a controversial character but she’s also a very patriotic, well-educated South African woman who has the kind of passion we’ve been missing from leadership.

Redi Tlhabi

If Redi seriously ran, you could have no doubts that people would vote for her. Her knowledge of politics, sociology and now economics will see her become a well-rounded female president.
