Following his coronation a few weeks ago, a secret to King Charles and Princess Camilla’s diet has been revealed to not be the daily cuppa enjoyed by most Brits, but the royal couple is reported to be fond of their alcoholic beverages. One of King Charles’ mainstay in his diet that comes a little later in the day is a strong cocktail.
Royal commentator Gordon Rayner claims that King Charles is partial to a martini comprised of half gin and half dry vermouth, garnished with an olive or lemon twist.
This is taken before dinner every night. Speaking to The Telegraph, Rayner said “When he travels abroad he takes his own spirits with him to be mixed by his staff to his precise taste, while the Queen takes her own supply of red wine, usually from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux.
“The King may sip a glass of wine during dinner but his martini is effectively his only drink of the day.”
But unlike his countrymen James Bond, King Charles prefers his martini stirred, not shaken.

The couple was recently spotted in Montecito, California, at a sushi restaurant alongside Hollywood stars Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The two Hollywood actresses were also with their partners, musician Benji Madden and television producer Brad Falchuk respectively.
According to Page Six, the couple were also joined by Bumble chief executive Whitney Wolfe Herd and her husband Texas oil heir Michael Herd.
Markle was all over the headlines for missing the coronation, having Harry fly over to the UK alone. But the two looked relaxed in what was their first outing since King Charles was crowned.
41 year-old Markle wore a brown long-sleeved dress, with matching open-toed sandals and a slicked-back low ponytail – as well as a white bucket bag and gold earrings while Harry wore white jeans, a black T-shirt and sand-coloured shoes.

Any friendship between the Sussexes and Diaz was previously unknown until the pictures were released, with Harry denying claims he had dated Diaz in his controversial biography Spare earlier this year.
In 2011, there were rumours about the two dating after meeting at an exclusive gym in South Kensington, west London.
But Harry, writing about how his dating life was referred to in books, said in Spare: “I seem to recall one detailing my flirtation with Cameron Diaz.
“Harry just couldn’t see himself with her”, the author reported.
“Indeed I couldn’t, since we’d never met. I was never within 50 metres of Ms Diaz, further proof that if you like reading pure b*ks then royal biographies are just your thing.”
The late queen’s right-hand woman Angela Kelly was holding back tears as she packed her belongings from her Windsor home. Following the coronation, King Charles gifted Kelly a cottage on Peak District according to the Daily Mail.
65-year-old Ms Kelly worked for Queen Elizabeth for more than 25 years and the pair were so close that she would even wear in the monarch’s new shoes, do her hair and massage her feet.
Last year, the Mail revealed that days after the late monarch’s death in September, the locks were changed on her apartments so that Ms Kelly could not gain access – although she has retained her home on the Windsor estate at the Queen’s request.
It is believed Charles has bought the property on the understanding that she will be able to live there for the rest of her life, after which it will revert to the Crown.
