Former Generations actor Roderick Jaftha says things are slowly getting better for him.

In September last year Jaftha opened up about his financial struggles, revealing that he was struggling to buy food and pay R2 500 rent for a single room where he lived with his family.

He told Zimoja that the situation worsened after his wife lost her job, which led to them surviving on handouts from family and friends.

Roderick Jaftha bags a new role

The actor has landed a role in eVOD’s new show, Red Zone, which premiered on 28 March.

Taking to Facebook this week, Jaftha said things are starting to look up for him.

“As bitter as things are at the minute, I think the wheel is slowly turning. Suddenly I’m getting offers.

“It will take a while, but the sun is slowly peeking its head above the clouds,” he wrote.

In another post, Jaftha also spoke about how entertainers are often overlooked and underpaid.

He added that many artists gave up because they were tired of struggling.

“And so, as time passed, those whose job it was to entertain were neglected. They were paid a mere pittance, and their pleas for recognition fell on deaf ears…

“A time came when these entertainers grew tired of the poverty and the hunger. They gave up altogether. They simply stopped caring themselves, choosing to accept the inevitable.”
