I’m excited, says Robbie Malinga on new album

The legendary musician is already trending on Twitter, and the album is yet to be released.

Legendary musician Robbie Malinga has opened up about his latest, self-titled album and the period during his sickness in an interview with DJ Fresh on Metro FM on Friday.

Malinga said the things people were saying about his health affected his son more than him, as he had been in the music industry long enough to not be affected by bad publicity.

“You know at home, you start losing weight, they say you’re dying. HIV positive, you know, and I’ve got kids. I don’t have a problem with bad publicity, it’s been 19 -20 years in the game, they’ve been writing stuff around here but now, they are other people like my kids.

“My son is on social media. There was a time when they said I’m the face of Bio-Slim. It was so funny for me, but for my son, it was not,” he said.

Malinga said there was a time when things were so bad he had to be rushed to hospital, as he was struggling to breathe and was not eating. He regained his strength through prayer with his wife, he said.

“Those were hard times, especially this year. It’s not nice going in and out of hospital, I’m scared of needles,” he said.

The doctors diagnosed him with anaemia as resulting of working too hard, he said.

“Blood could not pump enough in my body and then I had to sleep in hospital from last year in November to this year, I’ve been in and out of the hospital.”

Now he is well and ready to get back into the music game after working on a few albums.

“I’m releasing an album today. I’m excited.”

South Africans are also anticipating the legend’s new album as he started trending. His fans say they know the album will be a hit because it is self-titled.
