Riky Rick hits back at AKA’s Composure
Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA, on Wednesday broke the internet with his diss track Composure.
Musician Ricky Rick poses for pictures on the red carpet at the 5th annual MTV Africa Music Awards in held Durban, 18 July 2015. The award show also celebrates the 10 year anniversary of MTV Base with this year’s theme being “Evolution”. Picture: Refilwe Modise
In the track, he throws shots at Cassper Nyovest for among other things, his campaign to fill up the dome, and Riky Rick.
The Twitterverse had been waiting for Cassper Nyovest to either release a diss track or somehow just respond to AKA’s track, but Riky Rick took us all by surprise when he released his response with a track titled Say My Name (Spread Love).
AKA dropped Riky Rick’s name on the Composure song, he raps:
“Even Ricky called me the other day,
Stuck in the middle and said that we can’t collaborate.
Tried to be civil until I saw your Twitter page,
But I was out in Europe doing bigger things.
See when it rains it pours
Understand with me when it’s war, it’s war
Thinking back you wasn’t even national yet,
Matter fact, I used to be a fan of your s***.
Young King, I should’ve took you under my wing
Instead I let you under my skin…”
Riky Rick simply responded to the song with another song. The song is combination of rap and actual recordings. Riky explains his standpoint in the situation and that “he is not beefing.”
These are excepts from the track:
Look at where we came from. N****s aint beefin’, n****s is saving their income…Twitter blowing up, they telling me that I did some’. What the f*** yall n****s talking ’bout. I’m the only one who wanted these n****s to work it out. I was the only one who was tryna to make peace. I guess my only mistake was being a real G… The game tryna remind me about competition. The game tryna’ turn me against my idols. The desire to win is suicidal. F*** rap, im doing this for survival…
I don’t wanna rap, if rapping is about the titles.”
