Rihanna and Drake lip-sync to Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens
Watch the original and the parody, and you can decide which of the two did it best.
Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens.
Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens (also known as Mahlathini and the Girls of Mgqashiyo) were the iconic Mbaqanga supergroup best known for unforgettable tracks such as I’m In Love with A Rastaman, Stop Crying and Gazette.
The group received massive star status in the 1980s for their hip dance moves, almost rock star-like stage presence, and great vocal talent when they revived Mbaqanga.
Mbaqanga, which originated in the 1960s, is a style of South African music with rural Zulu roots that continues to influence musicians worldwide today.
So much so that someone on the internet with too much free time on their hands thought it would be a good idea to see how Rihanna and Drake looked lip-syncing to Gazette.
The results, of course, are awesome. Watch the original and the parody, and you can decide which of the two did it best.
