Rape charge has cost Brickz millions

His lawyer, Isaac Mokgopi, told City Press that Brickz has lost out on a number of corporate gigs since his arrest. He said Brickz lost more than R2.5 million after corporate gigs were canned and more than R500 000 after shows he’d been booked for by the department of education and Nando’s were cancelled.

The star is spending his third weekend behind bars after being charged with the rape of a 17-year-old girl.

On Friday, Mokgopi asked Magistrate Piet Kotze to grant his client bail, arguing the musician would lose his job if he was kept in custody until trial.

Brickz will be back in court tomorrow after his bail application was postponed on Friday by the Roodepoort Magistrates’ court to give prosecutor Willem le Roux more time to provide grounds for opposing bail.
