Rachel Kolisi said she is overjoyed as the Kolisi Foundation teams up with the Saartjie Baartman Centre to prevent violence against women and children through the Power2You project.
The project aims to give women the tools they need to take a stand against gender-based violence.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Rachel expressed her excitement for this campaign. She wrote: “So proud and excited to share this amazing project between the Kolisi Foundation and Saarti Baartman Centre.”

According to The Kolisi Foundation, survivors of gender-based violence (women) have created Power2You tote bags.
Each bag contains pepper spray, a whistle, a journal, and a card with emergency/support contact numbers, which provide women with the tools they need to stand up against abusers.
The Foundation’s Programme Manager, Alison Claasson, said the beauty of the Power2You project is that it is women helping women.
“Survivors of gender-based violence will be contributing to helping us prevent violence from happening to women and children again. The Power2You pack is a tangible resource aimed at putting power back into women’s hands.
“Through our relationship with Saartjie Baartman, we discovered that they had a sewing programme. It forms part of a holistic healing programme for survivors that have suffered gender-based violence.”
The Kolisi Foundation has also teamed up with Exact Clothing and Black Betty Design to revamp Saartjie Baartman Centre.
“This means new furniture, a colourful wall mural, empowering art, all to create a safe environment for survivors of gender-based violence.”
Exact Marketing Manager Waseema Sukhadia said they looked at what the Saartjie Baartman Centre needed to create a dignified space for women at the centre.
“We want them to come in here and feel empowered. We found furniture pieces and painted the walls to create a vibrant space. The big part of what we do as well is the attention to detail,” Waseema added.
