Prince William and Duchess Catherine will attend the royal premiere of ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ next month.
The royal couple will leave their three-month-old son Prince George at home to walk the red carpet in support of the annual royal film performance which benefits the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund – in London’s
Leicester Square on December 5.
William, 31, and Catherine, 31, will be joined at the glamorous events by the stars of the new Nelson Mandela biopic, Idris Elba, Naomie Harris, director Justin Chadwick and the former South African leader’s daughter Zindzi Mandela.
The royal film performance has been an annual tradition since King George VI attended the premiere of ‘A Matter of Life and Death’ in 1946.
The regal premiere event helps raise funds for the CTBF, which supports employees in the film and TV industries, and their families, through times of hardship.
This year’s royal premiere will also benefit The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, Mr. Mandela’s charitable organisation for children in his native South Africa.
Prince William walked the red carpet without his wife – who was pregnant at the time – for the royal premiere of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ last year.
