Primedia Broadcasting and Zweli Mbhele apologise for ‘insensitive’ remarks

The host spoke about the Israel and Palestine conflict.

Primedia Broadcasting has issued an apology for remarks made by 947‘s Afternoon with Zweli host, Zweli Mbhele.

Zweli also took to his social media platforms to apologise, saying his statement was not “articulated as eloquently and sensitively” as he intended.

On the show on Wednesday, 11 October, Zweli spoke about “the need for balanced and factual reporting” regarding the Israel and Palestine violence.

Taking to social media, the radio host said he never intended to hurt, upset or discriminate against anyone.

He added: “On the contrary, my views were intended to point out the need to be mindful of unverified reporting within the media, especially during such times.”

He said he understood that his remarks had upset some people and would like to apologise unreservedly.
