Former Skeem Saam actor Oros Mampofu came out in defence of controversial pastor Alph Lukaku who recently made headlines after claiming a man was raised from the during a church service on Sunday. The pastor received backlash on social media from people who did not believe his latest “miracle”.
Mampofu, however, only had good things to say about the pastor, and took to social media to defend him against his critics. Though he did not say he believed the miracle was real, Mampofu said Lukaku had pulled him out of a “very deep depression and anxiety” and made him believe there was “light”.
According to him, the pastor was a compassionate and understanding man.
He said: “So, everybody’s been talking about Pastor Alph Lukau, who’s been raising people from the dead and doing miraculous deeds. I’ve noticed he’s been getting a lot of backlash and people have been showing him so much anger and revolt. I think I just wanted to give my opinion and what I think about the man.
“I have attended his services three times, and my experience of the man is a man who’s truly compassionate with a deep sense of understanding and someone who pulled me out of a very deep depression and anxiety that I was going through for a very long time. I’m not going to tell you guys what to believe because God knows I have not figured it out myself.
“The one thing I do know is that he pulled me out of my depression, he pulled me out of a space that was real and dark for me and he made me believe that there was light, he made me believe that there could actually be a God who speaks to us and who answers us. I felt like I had the responsibility to speak out. I don’t know if you heal people but I’ll be behind you and I’ll be behind you, I’ll be there this Sunday to hear what you have to say.”
