The actor who recently joined Isidingo as a pastor has been on soapies such as Muvhango, Scandal and The Wild and has a long history as a theatre actor.
“When people come up to me and ask for a picture, I’m always surprised,” he says. “I don’t consider myself a celebrity because I’ve just always been focused on the work that I do. Not the hype that may surround it. I think a lot of young actors get distracted by popularity and the number of twitter followers they have, but at the end of the day the most important thing should be your commitment to your craft.”
Speaking on playing a materialist pastor, Poo says: “It’s very interesting because personally, I don’t have a relationship with a church. My relationship is just with God. Over the years I’ve attended almost every church denomination, and I’ve found certain aspects of the church to be very questionable.”
Aubrey Poo will make his debut on Isidingo on Tuesday 30 June at 7pm on SABC 3.
