Addressing 200 women at a Women’s Month event in KaMhlushwa, Mpumalanga, over the weekend, the ‘Tsotsi’ actress said: “Women need to love themselves before looking for love from others.
“Don’t just listen to people who speak badly about you and then do what they want you to do in order to please them. That means you are following their agenda, not yours.
“Plan your life well. Know what you want because in the end you will say they are bullying you whereas you are the one who followed them.”
Greatly recognised for her role in SABC1 soapie ‘Generations’, Nambitha’s character Mawande Memela had her last appearance in this week’s episode, after being written out amidst rumours that the actress was “too demanding”.
Nevertheless drawing on the character flaws of this lonely, iron-fisted fictional lady during her inspirational talk, she spoke about the importance of not being too proud to accept help and support.
“There’s always that angel of yours whom you need to talk to when you are not feeling good,” she said, according to the Daily Sun. “Call him or her.”
Also a businesswoman, humanitarian, and philanthropist, Mpumlwana has starred alongside celebrated international actors such as Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Hilary Swank, and Michael Easton.
