Miss Universe Australia finalist Sienna Weir has died at 23

Fashion model Sienna Weir was taken off life support on 4 May after spending a couple of weeks in hospital following a horseback riding accident.

Miss Universe Australia finalist Sienna Weir has died following a horseback riding accident. The 23-year-old model’s horse reportedly fell during the ride on 2 April at Windsor Polo Grounds in Sydney, Australia. She then spent a few weeks in hospital until she was taken off life support last week.

“Forever in our hearts”

Sienna’s modelling agency Scoop Management took to Instagram on Thursday, 4 May, to pay tribute to the beauty queen. The agency posted a video featuring her photos with a caption that reads: “Forever in our hearts.”

Siena graduated from Sydney University with a double degree in English literature and psychology. She became one of the 27 finalists at the Miss Universe Australia competition last year.

During her interview with Gold Coast Magazine, she said she enjoys writing and is always open to trying new things.

“I love to represent myself in the best way possible through writing my own poetry. I believe that while it is so important to stand by what you believe in and what you love, you never know what opportunity is just around the corner, and it is vital to push yourself to try new things and to fully know yourself.”

Siena’s love for horse-riding

The late model also opened up to Gold Coast Magazine about her love for horse riding. She said she started horse riding at a very young age.

“Although I’ve lived most of my life in the city, I have a deep and unmoving love for show jumping. My family aren’t quite sure where this passion came from, but I’ve been horse-riding since I was 3 years old and can’t imagine my life without it.”

“I travel to rural Sydney two to three times a week to train and compete around New South Wales or broader Australia every other weekend.”

Tributes continue to pour in

Many people across the world have taken to social media to pay tributes to Sienna. Some have also shared their condolences messages with her family and friends.

Taking to Instagram, fashion model Sofia Reynal said she did not get to spend much time with Sienna as she would have loved.

She added: “But for the short time I was blessed to have met your kind loving, radiant and beautiful soul I am so very grateful for. It’s still surreal and always will be. You are forever the angel we always knew, beaming with so much joy, looking above us, touching the hearts of everyone who was lucky to have met you.”
