Minnie pitted against Bonang at Awards

Minnie Dlamini has been nominated in the 2016 Oliver Empowerment Awards as a Top Empowered Media Personality.

The editorial panel for the awards selected Dlamini as a public figure that represents outstanding success in heightening awareness and emphasising the importance of transformation in South Africa.

Her charity efforts like The Minnie Dlamini Foundation has been rooted in community upliftment and awareness, and it’s easy to see why she deserves recognition. The actress and presenter is one of the busiest women in show business, and with a Twitter following of over 1-million her tweets have far-reaching affects.

But Dlamini isn’t the only nominee. Over the years Dlamini has been pitted against Bonang Matheba who is also in the running for the award. The two share great influence, and with constant media scrutiny they also live in public consciousness. Last year both attempted to clear the air, telling media that they are not enemies – however there has been ongoing speculation that the two can’t stand each other. If anything the award ceremony could bring out the claws.

Khanyi Mbau, Poppy Ntshongwana, Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Devi Sankaree are also on the list of 20 nominees.
